Commitments of Traders (COT) Reports
COT figures can change sharply even when a price chart looks relatively quiet. A drop in net exposure, for example, might reflect fewer long positions, more short positions, or a combination of both. Each tells a different story about how traders are positioned.
Our weekly reports examine positioning across commodity and financial futures, from metals and energy to currencies and equity indices. Long and short positions, open interest and historical comparisons provide the starting point. Interactive charts make it possible to investigate the details behind the weekly figures.
The data come with a reporting lag and reveal positions rather than individual trading intentions. We distinguish those observations from possible interpretations, leaving room for the questions that the numbers alone cannot settle.
